Established in 1793 in French Brittany, Raphaël has been renowned for their innovative approach and attention to quality. Raphael recently introduced state of the art synthetic brushes for watercolor. Precision mimics the exact performance of the sable hair, while SoftAqua reproduce the amazing water retention of that of the squirrel.
The brush maker is now releasing a mini version of these brushes with a beveled handle for possible textural effects (Precision is also an incredible brush for acrylic). The brushes are available as an individual purchase, or as an assortment conveniently packaged in an organic-looking bamboo rolling mat (contains five assorted round, flat and filbert Precision brushes, and one SoftAqua).
Although travel brushes have been available for some time, their merchandising can sometimes be an issue. Not only has Raphael replaced natural hair brushes with synthetic ones, therefore offering less pricey yet quality items, the products are merchandised in a very compact cardboard display 10 3/4”(w) x 13 3/4”(h) x 6”(d) that includes 72 assorted mini-brushes, 10 bamboo brush holders and 10 Sennelier watercolor postcard pads (isn’t it nice to receive a personalized hand-made postcards?).
Not only is the POP very appealing, with imagery that is reminiscent of seaside traveling, it also gives valuable explanations about the brushes.
